This group is for anyone interested in walking in company around the Gillingham, Dorset area.

We welcome everyone who wants to walk, particularly if you have never done much walking or not walked recently.  We aim to provide enjoyable walks at a pace comfortable for all.  It's a chance to meet new people and improve your health too.

NEWS IN BRIEF

2016 GILLINGHAM WALKING FESTIVAL  The Festival was again a great success.  See News and "Walkers are Welcome Town" pages. 

NEW LEADERS/BACK MARKERS NEEDED  If anyone would like to help in the future by leading/back marking an occasional walk, do please contact Sheila or Penny.  This doesn't need to be an onerous commitment, for example Monday leaders on average lead one walk a month and Saturday leaders two or three walks a year.

SATURDAY START TIMES - Walks will revert to the winter start time of 10.30 a.m. in November.  (please see below and Calendar).

Regular walks

The group currently organises two types of regular walks (see Calendar) :

One hour moderate walks on Mondays, starting in front of the Barn Surgery, Newbury

Two hour across country walks on the first Saturday of each month with varying start points (see below).

Other Activities

In addition to regular walks, we also have an active social section and most Springs we walk in Duncliffe Wood, hoping to see the bluebells.
