This website is for anyone interested in walking in company around the Gillingham, Dorset area.
We welcome everyone who wants to walk, particularly if you have never done much walking or not walked recently. We aim to provide enjoyable walks at a pace comfortable for all. It's a chance to meet new people and improve your health too.
For the first time in nearly ten years, our hardy walkers were beaten by the extreme weather on Monday 23rd December!! High winds, floods and rain (and possibly Christmas preparations) kept all our walkers at home, with the exception of the Walk Leader (of course!) - on this occasion, Bob Messer - who duly called off the walk and went home. 10 out of 10 for effort, Bob.
The group currently organises two types of regular walks (see Calendar) :
One hour moderate walks on Mondays, starting in front of the Barn Surgery, Newbury
Two hour across country walks on the first Saturday of each month with varying start points (see below).
(The group plans to recommence the Thursday weekly gentle half hour walks in the foreseeable future.)
