This group is for anyone interested in walking in company around the Gillingham, Dorset area.
We welcome everyone who wants to walk, particularly if you have never done much walking or not walked recently. We aim to provide enjoyable walks at a pace comfortable for all. It's a chance to meet new people and improve your health too.
Gillingham Walkers are participating in this Festival which means that walk times and starting points have been changed for that period. Booking is advised for the walk on Saturday 3rd September and for some other festival walks. Please see the Festival programme on WAW website: http://gillwalkersarewelcome.btck.co.uk/
(Contact details for bookings: Tel. 07544921671 Email: firstname.lastname@example.org)
CANCELLED WALK - Unfortunately none of our volunteer walk leaders was available on Saturday 2nd July so, regretfully, that walk had to be cancelled. If anyone would like to help in the future by leading an occasional walk, do please contact Sheila or Penny.
GILLINGHAM IS NOW A "WALKERS ARE WELCOME TOWN" - See WAW page
The group currently organises two types of regular walks (see Calendar) :
One hour moderate walks on Mondays, starting in front of the Barn Surgery, Newbury
Two hour across country walks on the first Saturday of each month with varying start points (see below).

The walks organised by the Balsam Centre in Wincanton may well appeal to Gillingham walkers. Have a look at their website and programme by following this link.
In addition to regular walks, we also have an active social section and most Springs we walk in Duncliffe Wood, hoping to see the bluebells.
